What's Shakin'?

Here is a fun idea to do with your kids after school. You can have a shake day!  First of all,  prepare in advance by buying some fresh or frozen blueberries, strawberries and raspberries and bananas or any other fruit.   Have some plain yogurt and lowfat milk on hand, as well as honey and maple syrup.  Let the kids decide what to put in - they will love having the choice!  It is also fun for them to see it all get mixed together.  Here are a couple of recipes for some shakes if you would like to have a recipe or two:





Fairy Berry Shake (my daughter's recipe):
1 cup lowfat milk
1 cup frozen strawberries and frozen blueberries
2 Tablespoons Maple Syrup

Mix together and enjoy!!!
=1-2 kid sized servings


Chocolate-Banana Shake (adapted from "Pretend Soup"- a cookbook for preschoolers and up by Mollie Katzen)
1 cup lowfat milk
1/2 ripe banana 
2 tablespoons sweetened cocoa
3 ice cubes

1. Combine all ingredients in the blender.
2.  Cover tightly, and blend until smooth ("until the very loud crunching noise stops")
3.  Pour in a tall glass and drink!

=1-2 kid size servings

Shake it up!  Woo hoo!  Shake it up!
