Kids Not Eating Vegetables? Here's a Tip!

Posted on 3 October, 2012 at 13:31 Comments comments (30)

Hi everyone!  Do your worry that your child does not eat their vegetables?  Well, you are not alone.  Many kids would rather eat fruits than vegetables, since many of us have a natural sweet tooth.

Here is a tip for something to try at the dinner table- instead of serving up just one veggie- serve two!  Kids like choices!  You may be surprised when they feel in charge and are not pushed to take the vegetable that you made.  Also, just offer the veggies.  Don't push them- kids can detect an agenda a mile away!!!

In addition, are the vegetables soft enough for your child to chew?  Do they taste good to you?  Some raw vegetables (like broccoli, cauliflower) may be difficult for your child to chew. You may need to lightly steam them.  Also, make sure veggies are cut in small child sized bites.

Is your child still not choosing a veggie?  Don't give up.  Don't ever give up- keep quietly offering- you eat it yourself and don't comment on whether your child eats it or not.  Keep it as a matter of fact choice at the dinner table.  If your child does eat fruits during the day, they are still getting many great vitamins.  The most you can do is offer and not push!

Good luck!
